Prospective Students
We work with students who are serious about public-interest technology and want to do careful, long-term work with real institutions. If you care about how data and algorithms shape public services, we might be a good fit.
Undergraduate and master’s students usually join an existing lab project and work alongside our PhD students and postdocs, rather than leading their own. It is the best way to learn how we actually do the work.
Before emailing, please:
- Read the Research pages and a few recent papers.
- Tell us how your background connects to our work.
- Say, as concretely as you can, what you want to work on.
- Attach a CV and, if possible, a short writing sample.
Write it yourself. Generic, mass-mailed, or AI-generated inquiries will not receive a response.
